Louisville and Nashville #796

Looking like it is ready to leave the Bowling Green train station with a southbound Hummingbird, L&N E8 #796 sits on display at the old L&N depot in Bowling Green, KY. The interior of the engine is used as a display, for both engines within are gone. The unit is actually of Chicago & Northwestern heritage, painted to look like a L&N unit. The only true L&N E-unit is E6 #770 in New Haven, KY. The depot is now a museum open to the public. It boasts a collection of rare train cars, such as one of two former L&N Railway Post Offices (RPOs), a WWII Army Hospital Car, and a wooden segregated passenger car.
