Nickel Plate's True Name

The NYC&StL markings of the Nickel Plate adorn the sand dome of NKP #765. The true name of the Nickel Plate, for those who don't know, is: New York, Chicago, and St. Louis. The name Nickel Plate most likely emerged from this marking, because if you remove the "ST" in NYC&STL, it sounds like "Nickel", or the nickel steel rail the railroad used; wherever the name "Nickel Plate Road" came from, the name stuck and the railway used the name for the rest of it's life.
